Rocco Dodson has practiced law in Colorado since 1981, representing businesses and individuals in trial and appellate courts, before administrative hearing boards, and in private arbitration.
His practice emphasizes commercial litigation of all types. He represents clients in disputes involving insurance, real estate, lending, construction, contracts and professional liability defense. Depending on the client's interests and the claims at issue, matters are taken to trial, resolved before trial, or brought to resolution through mediation or arbitration.
He approaches every matter with empathy for the client, integrity and high ethical standards, and a comprehensive, detailed look at the whole problem. He sees his work as helping people solve problems and reach satisfactory resolutions, so they can move forward with their lives.
He has taken pro bono cases since he began practicing in 1981, representing individuals at no fee when they cannot otherwise afford legal services. From 1988 to 1997 he chaired the Pro Bono Committee at Fairfield and Woods, P.C., managing the firm’s free legal work for low-income clients and nonprofit organizations. From 1994 to 1997 he also served on the underwriting committee for the Barristers Ball, the fundraiser for the Denver Bar Association Pro Bono Program.

What working with a small firm actually means
The attorney you hire is the attorney who handles your case.
People, not case files
Every matter starts with getting to know the client and their situation. Clients are people with a problem to solve, and the work begins with listening.
A straight answer before a strategy
As the facts and the other side come into focus, the firm assesses what the case will involve and what a satisfactory resolution looks like. Sometimes litigation is not the best solution, and clients are told so.
Resolution whenever possible
When possible, cases are settled to lessen the time, expense and uncertainty of litigation, and a mediator is brought in when that will help resolve the case. When a dispute has to be tried, it is.
You reach the lawyer, not a queue
Calls are returned by the person who knows the file. There is no team of associates between a client and the attorney responsible for the matter.
